Why it matters
Michigan makes properties work hard
Heavy clay soil, road salt, freeze-thaw cycles and lake-effect storms all do damage in their own season.
Aeration in the fall is what keeps clay from choking a lawn. Gutters cleared before the first freeze stop ice dams. Salt applied in the right place keeps a walkway safe without burning the turf beside it in April. Knowing the sequence is most of the job.
